NCRI conducts and coordinates research to better understand and address the challenges facing today's coral reefs and inform best management practices.
NCRI aims to be an internationally recognized leader in coral reef research. To do so, we lead research of national and regional interests that distinguishes us from other groups globally.
NCRI is dedicated to advancing coral reef research through collaboration and coordination, focusing on scientific partnerships and knowledge-sharing. Our multidisciplinary group of coral reef researchers has expertise on a broad range of topics, including biology, ecology, evolution, genomics, physiology, and social science. NCRI conducts research to better understand and address the challenges facing the world’s coral reefs and inform best management practices.
Taking advantage of the particularities of the reef systems that surround us, specifically the proximity to a highly urbanized area with strong sediment and nutrient run-off inputs but high revenue from tourism and recreational fishing, we are shifting the research focus in the Atlantic Caribbean region from documenting decline to understanding the dynamics and value of modern reefs.
